In this review I will discuss the good, bad and "it depends" elements of the Bose 321 GS Home Entertainment Theater as objectively as I am able.
The Good
Home entertainment systems don't get any easier to install and use than the Bose 321 GS. The dictionary should have a picture of this system next to the phrase, "user friendly". Unlike so many home entertainment systems, it just doesn't take a brainiac to set this one up.
If you're space challenged like many of us, you will definitely value the small size of the components. The speaker size is about half that of Bose's previous units, making them both easy to hide and unobtrusive in smaller spaces.
The Bose 321 GS is a good value for the money, featuring:
2 speakers
Accustic Mass subwoofer
AM/FM tuner box
DVD/CD player
1080p upscaling for videos
TrueSpace digital circuitry
Decoding circuitry, allowing the system to interface with most components, even your television or VCR!
The Bad
The effectiveness of the Bose 321 SG is limited to small to medium sized spaces, such as a living room family room, office or den. It's really not adequate for a large open spaces, such as an expansive great room. For that you need a larger system with more speakers.
Mixed Bag
The sound is amazing. That said, you need to understand that the Bose 321 GS is not on par with a 5.1 or 7.1 system, but it's wonderful for what it is. This is a two speaker system, not a five or seven, so set your expectations accordingly.
Bottom Line
Overall, the Bose 321 GS is a good basic choice for first time buyers of home theater systems or those living in small to medium sized homes. You can always sell it and upgrade later if you choose.
